Simply to be right with God
PGP, Moses, 5:10 (after the fall)
In that day Adam blessed God and was filled, and began to prophesy concerning all the families of the earth, saying: Blessed be the name of God, for because of my transgression my eyes are opened, and in this life I shall have joy, and again in the flesh I shall see God. And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.
Was the fall of man an upward fall?
Was it necessary for human history? According to the Bible, did God give them a command that they could not perform without being disobedient?
Are these still true?
- Because you have done this, You are cursed…
- In pain you shall bring forth children;
- Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.
- Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth
- In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Who would want you to believe that disobedience could lead you to righteousness?
- Ge 3:13 And the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
- 2Co 11:3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
What is the true state of man?
Every spirit of man was Innocent in the beginning: and God having redeemed man from the fall, men became again, in their infant state, innocent before God
Psychology, science, religion, and Mankind in general all believe man is basically good.
What does Gods word have to say?
Romans 3:10-28 (in Romans ch.1-2 Paul takes the whole world to court, and proves all guilty before a righteous God)
Take note that the mind, the heart, the will, and the body, all reject god.
(The truth of God cuts through political correctness… strait to truth)
Notice the two kinds of righteousness
Mans Righteousness… we call it self righteousness
Gods Righteousness… Un-earned, by grace alone
Romans 9:30 – 10:10
(try reading these verses with these definitions)
Gentiles = non-religious Israel = Gods people, religious
Note 10:2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death
It sounds just like us… wanting it our way and if not its not fair.
Philippians 3:8-9 (two righteousness’)
Titus 3:5 (not by works)
unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees
Put the most righteous person you know of right here…
Bishop, Apostle, Church President… who ever
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags…
The point is we have no righteousness of our own… we must ask for and accept His righteousness… humble yourself
2 Peter 1:1 (whose righteousness did Peter have?)
Ephesians 2:1-3 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others
Who then can be saved??
Romans 10:11-13 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
